SFF PRIVACY POLICY

This privacy policy applies in relation to the website located at www.strokesurvivors.org.za (the “website”).  The website is owned and operated by The Stroke Survivors Foundation (Registration no. 2010/002369/08) (“SFF”).  This privacy policy is binding on everyone who chooses to complete this registration form by accessing the website without qualification or exception.  By using this website and/or completing the registration form, the person so accessing (the “User”) agrees to be bound by this policy and acknowledges that the User has read and understood it.  If the User does not agree to any of the terms of this policy, the User should not complete the registration form on the website.

INFORMATION COLLECTED

By completing the registration form, the User hereby consents to participate in data collection and use whereby SFF, or other third parties approved by it, such as researchers, can access anonymized, collated data. SFF collects information by various methods, including information actively provided by the Users, and information arising from customer surveys and general feedback. The types of personal information collected by SFF from the User include first name, surname, contact information and identification information.  When the User provides SFF with personal information, the User consents to SFF using such information for the purpose for which it was disclosed.

USE OF INFORMATION COLLECTED

The User’s information is used to aid in the provision of SFF’s various products and services. Including for purposes such as research, health outcomes measurements, as well as for in company business use.  SFF may use aggregate or anonymous information for these uses for itself and third parties.

WHO THE INFORMATION COLLECTED IS SHARED WITH

SFF does not share the User’s personal information with any third parties except as disclosed in this policy.  SFF may provide personal information to its contractors, employees, officers, insurers, agents, suppliers and professional advisers and researchers (which shall be bound by privacy obligations) to assist the SFF in the uses disclosed herein.

SSF will never disclose or use the User’s information outside of this consent. All SSF and staff are bound by the strictest confidentiality and data security measures. There will never be general access to all staff to the information covered by this consent.

SECURITY

Personal information is stored in a combination of paper and electronic files.  The Foundation will store all the personal information provided by the User on secure servers and will take reasonable technical and organisational precautions to prevent the loss, misuse or alteration of the User’s personal information.

The User is responsible for keeping the password used for accessing the website, confidential; the Foundation will not ask the User for his/her password.

ACCESSING THE INFORMATION

The User may review his/her personal information contained in SFF’s files by contacting SFF.  If a User believes that any of their personal information is inaccurate, SFF will make any appropriate corrections.

COOKIES

SFF uses cookies for the convenience of users.  Cookies automatically authenticate a user.  The User can access the website with the cookie feature turned off; however, in doing so the User may find himself/herself challenged for username and password information on multiple occasions.  SFF also uses cookies to track the User’s visits and uses that information to improve the User’s experience.

LINKS

The website may contain links to information at other websites.  When a User clicks on one of these links, the User moves to another website,  be aware that SSF is not responsible for the privacy practices of these other site.  The User is encouraged to read the privacy statements of these linked websites as their privacy policies may differ from those of SFF’s.

GENERAL

SFF may amend this privacy policy from time to time.  If such amendments materially affect how SFF uses or discloses the User’s personal information already collected by SFF, SFF shall obtain consent from the User.

Notwithstanding the general terms of this privacy policy, the collection, use, and disclosure of personal information may be made outside of the terms herein to the extent provided for in any applicable privacy or other legislation in effect from time to time.

By requesting or indicating that the User would like to receive marketing material from SFF, the User agrees to SFF sending to the User the requested marketing material and any other information or material which SFF believes may be of interest to the User.

The User accepts that by completing the registration form and using the website, the User consents to any processing or storage of the User’s personal information and warrants that any and all data provided by the User is up-to-date and accurate.
