As stroke survivors, we are well aware that living post-stroke really only begins when you are discharge from a hospital or clinic that has treated you. We are also aware that each person who suffers a life changing event such as a stroke faces different challenges and difficulties. These may be complex and specifically related to the area of your brain that has been impacted by the stroke and require specialised and experienced clinical intervention. Therefore, we recommend that you try finding a hospital, out-patient center or practice where the rehabilitation therapists understand these neurological difficulties and can provide the required specialist treatment you need. They will be able to tailor make your rehabilitation process especially for you. They will work together with you and your family to set individualised goals relating to improving your mobility, functional activities of daily living, communication and overall quality of life. These facilities will hopefully also have the appropriate equipment and resources to promote your rehabilitation programme.
